Horse Camp 2011

Every summer Lee and I host our nieces for a week at Pony Camp, held at www.mosslandingky.com.  It is fun for the girls to get together and they have a great time.  Lee and I enjoy getting to know them better and hope this annual event will always be a special time in their hearts.

Raegan, Evelyn, Grace Anne, Ava and Clara.  Bus Driver - Lee.

"The Big Girls" were really sassy in their Rally shirts
from their recent Pony Club events.
Raegan, Clara and Ava played all day and all night.  At 9 or maybe 9:30...  we would MAKE them come in from the barn.
They played with kittens every minute they were not at camp or asleep.  Raegan was a little confused at why we have daylight until 10 pm.
Raegan loved all of our dogs, kittens, horses, etc...
I don't think she was homesick!
On the last day of camp, all the parents come for a show.  The girls did great.  MiMi and Aunt Anne are enjoying the show.

 Clara is a fantastic rider.

 Evelyn looks beautiful and happy!

I absolutley love this picture of Raegan with Marble.
Our favorite riding coach - Stephanie

Hagan and her grandparents.  We love them!

Y'all come back!

Tetrathalon

Arrival - 7:30 am Saturday
Grace Anne's first Rally was held in June at Masterson Station in Lexington.  It was a learning experience for all of us - but we had a great time.  Exhausting - but great time.
There was quite a bit of waiting.  A whole lotta waiting.
The girls didn't mind, they were having fun!
 Bluegrass Pony Club Tetrathalon Competitors

 First up, Shooting.
Grace Anne just learned how to shoot about 3 weeks before the event.  They shoot air pistols and every girl gets to have a coach.  Of course Lee was happy to oblige.
 Protective Eyewear.  Check.

Lee gave tips on moving toward the target.
The targets were 10 meters away and TINY.

6:00 pm Saturday Evening
It took all day to let her shoot and then we headed to the Pavilion for her swim.

She and Claire did great!
We went to dinner, ran by the vets house to pick up the Coggins and Health Certificate for Sunday and got home around 10:30.
We liketa died.

Arrival - 7:30 am Sunday
Grace Anne and Ivy are waiting for the Run, but instead we hunkered down for a tornado.  Seriously.  In a barn.  The Run got called off and Grace Anne was thrilled!  She got a perfect score with no effort!!
While we waited...  and waited for the storm to clear,
Mr. Sturgill went and bought McDonalds out.
They were judged on how well they took care of their barn area...
The rains cleared and the girls were able to get their rides in.
Lee is in the background checking her stirrups.
She did awesome.

And finally... the reward.

Great job girls!

Pony Club Camp

Grace Anne did her first Pony Club Camp, preparing her for Rally in June.  She had a fantastic time!  She had a lot of responsibility, caring for Marble.  Each girl had complete domain over their stall and care of their horse.  This is a photo of Lee and Grace Anne heading to camp the first day.  It was similar to moving.  Everything in the barn went to Lexington.
She also had the task of filling out her own Stall Card.  These are not like the cards on Amende Place - tons of needed information! They were busy for three days - learning and having fun.  Her favorite part was a cross country trail ride.

Happy Girl!

Last Day of School

On the last day of school, Saint Mary has a special Mass before the kids run screaming into the summer.

This year Ava received the Citizenship Award for her class.
I am so proud of her.

Grace Anne and her friend Claire.

Grace Anne and Ava both received the only
Perfect Attendance in their class.  It can only be explained by how busy their parents are.  They cannot stay home.

Grace Anne's teacher had a daughter in their class.  She actually taught them third and fourth grade.  Grace Anne has loved her, but maybe it is time for a change.  This is a smarty pants look when the teachers daughter received the Citizenship Award in their class.  Not so subtle.

Looking forward to having fun this summer with BFF Hagan.
